Social and Community Participation
My HelpCare support participate in a range of social activities within the community as the community is a lifeline for many people with disabilities and other health complaints.
Community participation is important for building social inclusion with peer support. Participants build confidence and independence as they interact on a social level. With your assigned support worker, you can try new things to enrich your community experience. We’ll work with you to create a mix of supports that encourage and help you to:
- Socialise with your peers
- Build relationships by meeting with groups
- Be part of the community
- Think ‘outside the box’ about the support you want and need
